Bollywood Storm!

Got a nice batch of Bollywood records sent straight from India. These are all really nice records and the sound clip definitely tells the story. Sorry, but these are preview only...

  6. Some of the instrumentation is nice and it's certainly interesting. The female vocals have an erotic quality which makes sense, I guess. However, I couldn't see myself sitting down, listening to this seriously (unlike, say, Steely Dan or something).

  8. After a couple of months of searching and endless Hindi websites I think I have identified most of the tracks except one! It would be no fun just giving us the full titles would it now ;) - also along the way I have listened to most of these albums and what a joy it has been! If it is possible to name the fourth track and correct any mistakes I have made that would be splendid.....

    1)Salma Agha & Bappi Lahiri - Come Closer [1985]
From the film soundtrack Kasam Paida Karnewaleki

    2)Salma Agha & Bappi Lahiri - Chumma Chumma [1985]
From the film soundtrack Pataal Bhairavi

3)Sharon Prabhakar & Bappi Lahiri - Aayeh Bahon Mein [1985]
From the film soundtrack Bhavani Junction Soundtrack
*I love it when the track mutates into a bizarro moment of Black Blood's 'A.I.E. A Mwana'! Sheer genius!*

4)Bashir Sheikh and Sharon Prabhakar?? UNKNOWN! I first thought it was from the film soundtrack to 'Qurbani' by Kalyanji Anandji and the legendary 70s disco producer Biddu (who is still going strong!) so I eventually found all the tracks online and then realised (ie finally read all the album cover scan!) the cover was referring to another 1980 album called "Qurbani In English" by Bashir Sheikh and Sharon Prabhakar (presumably the original film soundtrack songs sung in English to get all super-sleuthy!)...so I eventually found all six songs again online after many hours of searching only to discover it was not one of those songs - so I throw in the towl on this track, please put me out of my misery!

    5) Sharon Prabhakar & Bappi Lahiri - Mere Jaisi Mehbooba [1984]
From the 1984 film soundtrack Baadal
Bappi Lahiri - Baadal LP (CBS IND 1109 India)

    6) R. D. Burman - Music [1980]
From the 1980 Ali Baba aur 40 Chor Soundtrack
*Interestingly it says this film was a joint Indian-Russian collaboration which must have got the Americans twitchy! An article also mentioned it was a collaboration between the late Rahul Dev Burman & a Russian composer called Vladimir Milov (though he does not get namechecked anywhere except in a Wiki stub) All the other tracks on the album have the artist name next to the track and all I can find is the fact this track is just called 'Music' but I may of course be wrong!*

  9. I forgot to add an album I found along the way that no doubt you hipster types have been all over for years but for terminally uncool types like myself I present:

The 1981 album by Salma & Sabina called 'Agha Salma & Sabina Sing The Hits Of Abba In Hindi'

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=T62OVU2Q

Not the greatest rip in the world at 192 and a little crackly but if you have not heard it before its well worth the 45 megs!

a mixtape makers dream I think you would agree ;)

  11. Still interested to know the name of the 4th track in the Bollywood/Hindi megapost you did under the title "bollywood storm" way back in November last year (and if it is possible to check if my previous post about the identity of each track is correct)...as you can see, months down the line and its still bugging me!

To answer the question above by "anonymous", you can get get the links to the individual tracks Marsellus posted via Divshare (or if you have trouble use something like Jdownloader or Flashgot to get the files)...The tracks he posted are very rare in themselves so we should be grateful for that (not that I am saying you are not)...if you do a little virtual digging around the net you might find one or two rips of the albums posted lying around!

  12. Saucer People,

The track is from The Quirbani English OST on Polydor. The track is called "Each Time I Remember Your Pretty Face by Bashir Sheikh & Sharon Prabhakar. Glad you like! Hope all is well.
