Marry Christmas/Happy Holidays Everyone!!!

Ho Ho Ho!!! I hope everyone's holidays are treating them well!!! To go into the new year, I figured I'd leave one last post for 2014. What we have here, is a very rare Argentinian LP called "Cuaseres". Some of you may have heard about this record. Very seldom seen, and without a doubt one of the more unique sounds I have ever heard. It's a mixture between South American Funk, Latin, Jazz, and a touch of Psyche. This album needs a reissue. Until then, give it a shot! Peace everyone.

V/A - Espressioni Musicali E Suoni D' Attualita' E Di Moda 2

Hello there world!!! I hope the holidays are treating everyone well. If not, I hope everyone is treating themselves well. I have another gem out for everyone to enjoy. This record is nasty. Really! It's pure Italian Fuzz and Psych, and a session IMO that rivals some of the best sessions (including Braens Machine) that have ever been recorded to tape. What we have here is the "Espressioni Musicali E Suoni Di Attualita' E Di Moda" LP. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

Marsellus Wallace & Skeme Richards - Cops Crooks and Spies

A year ago I was approached by Jamison Harvey over at Flea Market Funk and asked to do a mix for them. I've always had a lot of respect for what they do, and I also enjoy listening to their mixes. After brainstorming some ideas, I decided I'd like to somehow include my brother Skeme Richards as well. So, we came up with the idea that I would put together a mix and he would dub dialogue from his massive VHS collection and lay it on top. Our concept was to make the soundtrack to a movie that never existed. So, that's what we did!!! With that said, we proudly present to you "Cops Crooks and Spies". Thank you everyone for your support and open ears. We hope you enjoy it. Peace.

Peppino De Luca & I Marc 4 - L'Uomo Dagli Occhi Di Ghiaccio (The Man With Icey Eyes)

What else can be said about this crazy Italian OST that already hasn't been proven? Simply put, it's the BEST!!! Pressed on the infamous "Pegaso" label out of Italy, what we have here is L'Uomo Dagla Occhi Di Ghiaccio aka "The Man With Icey Eyes OST". If anyone out there isn't familiar with I Marc 4, now is a great introduction. Starring the gorgeous Barbara Bouchet, this flick is the epitomy of Giallo  crime Jazz/Funk. Rare? Maybe 10 or so copies exist. As stated earlier, I won't run my mouth. Just peep the sound clip and download this Holy Grail before the rare groove police get their hands on it. Peace ya'll.

Takeshi Tamada - Oriental Fantastic Orchestra

YO!!! Has anyone out there ever heard of this joint? It's NUTS!!! Koto breakbeats on top of Japanese arrangements. Superb!!! I got this copy many years ago from Japan in solid mint condition. Needless to say, the recording reflects that. Crazy!!! To be honest.  I'm not gonna run my waffle about this LP any longer. Just peep the sound clip and download the record. Thanks for tuning in folks ;)

It's FRIDAY!!!

Franco Micalizzi - Laure OST

Yo Yo!!! Whats good out there?!!! Looks like I'm stuck babysitting tonight. No worries though, I love the little guys. Since we have been on a trip to Italy, I thought I'd share with everyone yet ANOTHER rare gem from the Italian vault. What we have here is Franco Micalizzi's OST called "Laure". When it comes to raer, this one takes the cake. Took me many many years to hold this joint. I know a few seasoned Italian dealers/collectors that used to tell me that this OST didn't even exist. Well, it does. Not many exist, but believe me…it's not a myth. Without a doubt, this is one of my favorite soundtracks. It's so damn good that well….I had to share it. With that said, I just wanted to thank everyone out there who have been following this blog as long or as short as you have. As most of you know, my ultimate mission always is to shed some light on albums that never saw the light of day. This means a lot to me. As a DJ I feel like it's my purpose to not only break the boundaries, but also to educate the public.  I buy the records, and share them with the world. It's a simple concept! If you have any doubt about this album, just peep the sound clip embeded. This record is bananas! Have a great weekend everyone :)

P.S. I created another email account so everyone could check sound clips on DivShare. Customer service is priority numero uno!

Francesco De Masi - L'Italia Vista Dal Cielo

I'm back with another gem off of the Italian label "Sermi". This is a fantastic Bossa Jazz record with a touch of Lounge. Definitely one for the collectors out there! It is the soundtrack to Folco Quilici's "L'Italia Vista Dal Cielo" documentary. Anything with Vibraphones is ok in my book. The perfect Sunday afternoon record. Can you say rare?

Just a heads up!

A friend of mine had some T-Shirts made, and I had to cop a few myself. They're album cover scans for 2 of Piero Umiliani's BEST albums, "Il Corpo and To-Day's Sound". High quality American Apparel T's at that! If you are familiar with these albums, then you already know the deal. Definitely 2 of my favorite records. Anyways, if you feel like taking your record nerding to the next level, I highly suggest you snag a few of these. $25 each. Email him at Segueemery@gmail.com.

Alessandro Alessandroni - Farfalla

What's happening world? After a long and hot summer, the weather is getting to the ideal temperature out here in sunny San Diego. Without a doubt, Fall is my favorite season. Everything starts to cool down, and leaves begin to die. It's very symbolic. Plus, that also means Halloween is right around the corner! Anyways, I figured to celebrate my favorite season, I'd share with everyone another HEAVY Italian gem on the highly sought after label Sermi. What we have here is Alessandro Alessandroni's extremely rare LP called "Farfalla". The cover alone is outstanding. The music ranges from Jazz to Psyche to just about everything you can imagine. It's kind of hard to pin point what genre this would fall into. Regardless, it's outstanding. This is not your average library record that has a few dramatic loops and open drums. It's top notch! Also, there's not many of these are floating around. Even more of a reason to share it with all of you. As always with my posts, it has never been reissued. So until it is, enjoy this rip. Also, be sure to peep the sound clip!

Zerosen - Sunrise

It's been a long day, and a HOT day in sunny San Diego. So, as the temperature cools down I figured I'd rip one of my favorite Jazz Funk albums to listen to in traffic tomorrow. What we have here is an album by a Japanese group called "Zerosen". The album is called Sunrise. Super tough to find, and through my research it has never been repressed nor is it available on a blog anywhere. With that said, this record is REALLY good. The pressing is on Victor, and has extremely deep grooves. Very loud pressing. I kept having to re-record the tracks because they were redlining so much. Sunrise was made in 1977, although it has a much earlier feel to the recording. As usual, I like to let the sound clip/record speak for itself. Enjoy the rest of your week, and stay cool out there everyone.

Jason Black - American Bus

Ok here it is! The long lost Jason Black "American Bus" recording. Jason Black is just a pseudonym for the one and only Arawak aka Luciano Simoncini. Luciano was the man behind the Accadde A Library LP that is very known among many of you. While anything he does is hard to put your hands on, this one is damn near impossible. Pressed on the small Italian label "Wild Cat", American Bus is somewhat in the same vein as Accadde A. To be honest, I like this better than Accadde A. Very smooth album with heavy fender rhodes all the way through. Like all of my updates, I only post albums that have not been re-issued or posted on any other blog. To me, that's the point of blogging. Not re-posting something that's been on multiple blogs. With that said, I hope you enjoy this rare and amazing library record. Just check out the sample below!

Here ya go!

Con The Music Makers - The Barry White Sound (link fixed, hopefully)

Ok here we go! Back at it with another exclusive gem, you'll only find here at the Crate Favorites. To be honest, I have no idea who this record is by other than it being titled "Con The Music Makers". It comes from Mexico, but I doubt the musicians are. That's just my guess though. It's un-googlable as far as my research, and I don't imagine their are too many floating around out there. It's basically covers of Barry White songs. My favorite is of course the classic "I'm gonna love you just a little bit more" (Voy A Quererte Por Un Rato Mas). The version on this LP is absolutely stunning. Bajo La Influencia Del Amor is really nice too. The album has a few other ringers on it. All of it has that real grimy private press recording quality we all love so much! If anyone has anymore information about this record, I'd really like to know. Until then, enjoy this gem. Peace!

Carlo Pes - Un Uomo Dalla Pelle Dura OST

As usual, it's been a while since my last update! So to make up for the time gap, I've ripped you quite a gem in the Italian Soundtrack field. What we have here is a VERY rare movie soundtrack called "Un Uomo Dalla Pelle Dura (Tough Guy)". Absolute stunning record, by the man who puts the "C" in I Marc 4, Carlo Pes. This record is pressed on the infamous and highly sought after label "Pegaso" out of Italy. What you can expect are 3 different themes of the title (Tough Guy) that involve tape echos, perfectly compressed percussion, and explosive horns. There's also drama sequences and cues, as well as a few lounge compositions. I don't imagine were many of these pressed, or many floating around for that matter. Reasons like this are why I take the time to shed some light, and give you the opportunity to  judge for yourself. With that said, be expecting a few more updates! Enjoy.

Piero Umiliani - Effetti Musicali

Ok here we go! Back with another heavy hitting rare Umiliani LP. This is one of the Umiliani projects that is filled with an unlimited amount of samples for all the producers out there. No drums whatsoever. It's basically Umiliani and the gang experimenting with various instruments. Might I add, instruments that you won't see most others messing around with at this time. Piero Umiliani is my favorite composer, if you already couldn't tell! I hope you enjoy this weird and very experimental LP. It's one of the best!

Jimmy Jules & The Nuclear Sound System - Xmas Done Got Funky

What's happening everyone? It seems that my last posting of this "disappeared" for whatever reason. With that said, I am making it reappear! What we have here is a private funk and soul record on the JGS label. This album absolutely smashes! It's one of my favorites. Don't let the Xmas title fool you! This LP is some of the most killer music and doesn't come around that often. Which is why I'm putting it out there to let you be the judge yourself. My favorite track is "Macaroni Man". Honestly though, every track is a winner! Enjoy.
