WOW!!! Now this is one that I can't find any information about. This is a Japanese record by the Ensemble Petit & Screen Land Orchestra. While I have heard of them, I had never seen this album before until someone introduced me. This is basically a harder driven twist on funky cinema themes (i.e. 3 Days of Condor, Dirty Harry, Exorcist, etc.). Been one hell of a minute

Well 1st off I gotta apologize for the lack of posts and updates in general. But, I think I got a decent excuse. Like I said, decent...maybe not acceptable. Well, I lost my old studio/recording room due to personal in home issues. Pretty much been out of the game for the past 4 months. Either way it's time to unleash for the new year. I have a good feeling about the new year. So far I have about 3 projects in the works, as well as a LOT of new LP's to post that I have scrounged up over the past 4 months. In a nutshell...many new updates to come! Here is basically have been working on, a new studio in a new crib. I had to build a studio / record room, because I got a roomate (Dj Inform / Colombus, Ohio) that also has a sh*t ton of records. So why have a 2 car garage, when you could just have more space for vinyl? Well, the options pretty much pointed in the right direction. With the help of myself and MANY talented men I proudly present, Salmon Studios...a cave where the Grizzly's run wild.To start off on a good note, here is probably one of my favorite Brazilian soundtracks. This is a super duty tough record (in the words of Case Bloom) and extremely rare to put your hands on. It is a dark, jazzy, break filled masterpiece that has many different moods. From the early works of Ze Rodrix, here is the Esquadrao Da Morte Soundtrack aka "Death Squad" on RCA Brazil. This was hipped to me originally by my man Danny Dan The Beat Mann many moons ago, but...I finally found a copy. So here ya go!!! If anyone has a RIP of the movie I would greatly appreciate it. Stay thirsty my friends...!!!

Oh my, this record is HEEEEAT!!! Starting with #1, we have a cream of the crop lineup of library musicians. You have David Lindup, Alan Hawkshaw, Brian Bennett, and Alan Parker all in one package. It is packed with spy themes, hard driven funk, breaks, and smooth lounge vibes. Definitely on my top list! Every song is pretty much a winner IMO. Enough yapping, just peep the sound clip....!

Next on the list is another heavyweight! TIM No. 1022 The Sound of Soul, is a very nice record. Alan Parker & Mike Moran take over this funky smooth record with clean drums funky guitar licks! One of my favorites is definitely Mr Smooth Man. The whole album is pretty funky though, check the sounds!

What's new out there everyone? I have pretty much been ghost for quite a bit now. Reason being, I have been waiting on this right here...

My recording software bit the dust on my last post and, well...it was time to upgrade! So Pro Tools was the next step. I figured that most of my recordings could only be so good when running them off a free program and a 1/8 jack in the back of my computer. So to make a long story short, it's time to jam! Again, it's been a minute and I have dug up quite a few records since then. Let me see here...so far I have recieved...

Yup! Pretty much the whole Bruton catalog in shiny NM conditions! Well, about 175 of them to be exact. Lotta cheese on there I must admit, but that's how it goes on library ya dig? So, requests I don't mind...but we gotta keep it groovy unno?

First off...thank you to all of the subscribers out there. Good to see folks tuning in to the sound! Gotta few things coming up, so here we go!

This is gonna be a BIG event, for real! Me and my man Kidragon are throwing this event in the sunny San Diego. First off, if you don't know who Danny Dan the Beatman is, then let me hip you. Dan is the man behind the break/library compilation called "Dusty Fingers".

I must admit, he was one of the 1st people to put me on to the library scene years ago. Shows you how much learning you need, when older cats have been hip to stuff for years that you are just beginning to explore. Anyways, rumor has it there may be Marsellus/Dan/Kidragon mixtape in the works?

Also, joining him will be Mr. Supreme!

Now I sure hope all of the record nerds out there are aware of Supreme. From Conception Records, to break record excavation, this guy is a master of his craft when it comes to digging. Straight out of Seattle with Jake One by his side, they are the Conmen. Not cats that con you out of your lunch $, but well respected gentlemen of hip hop that will make you think you have records lol! If you are in the San Diego area then you gotta peep out this event! For real, don't Zzzzz....

Sonoton 117 Industrial Themes and Underscores Vol. 1

Oh my! Tremendous breaks on this Sonoton masterpiece. This is by Mr. Gerard Narhoff himself. It is what you can expect with any Sammy Burdson/John Fiddy arrangement. Hard driven bass with thick drums and evil synthesizer chords. One thing I like especially about the Industrial Menace track is the off timed synthesizer riffs. If you listen to the pt. 2 version you can hear how off it is. It gives it that really nice swing with everything else on top. This is a production method used by many of the great hip hop producers when laying drums. It reminds me especially of the work of Dilla (R.I.P.) Anyways, this is a dope album, I assure you. Peep the sound clip...

A good friend of mine died yesterday. While most of you are used to me posting free record rips, most of you don't really know who I am or probably don't care. This is all good. Pretty much something you have to expect when you are in that position. This man was a huge influence on me and my music. He taught me about hip hop and led me to many artists such as Capone & Noreaga, Alkoholiks, etc. He will truly be missed. Sometimes when we get caught up on the things we think are important, we forget the blessing of life and family. My weakness is obviously records. But until a close one dies, life smacks you in the face and you realize what it is all about. Unfortunately, that only lasts for a short time. Then it's back to square 1. It's kind of crazy when a loved one passes, you almost wish you knew...and wish you could have gone back in time to warn them. Right? Anyone ever felt like that? My heart and soul goes out to you Cortez, and your family and loved ones. You were truly a genuine dude, and you will be missed by many. Rest in Power.

WOW WOW WOW!!! Yes!!! This record is heeeeeeat!!! This album is the Bennesbeh La Bokra Chou Soundtrack. The album is by Ziad Rahbani. It is an Arabic album recorded in Lebanon. Seriously, I have never seen this record before and I am a little hesitant to give it up for free. But hey, as long as you are supporting me, then what the hay right? If you are into Arabic music, then it is a wonderful album. It also has a few hip hop style samples for all you mp3 samplers out there. This is my 2nd official mixtape. It's basically a mix of library, rock, and various breaks. It took me about 8 months to polish out. The big issue with this one was that I could not export the d&#n thing!!! Desperate measures had to be taken to actually save the whole project. Very excellent soundtrack composed by Giorgos Hatzinassios. This is a very sought after Greek record and has breaks, drama, and female vocals. I was very excited to find this record, considering it only pops up every once and a while. The film is a Greek sexploitation flick from the 70's starring the gorgeous Barbara Bouchet. Unfortunately, I do not read Greek, so anyone out there who could help with a track listing or any additional info is a superstar! Enjoy...

I gotta say that this album has a pretty nice lineup. But in no way whatsoever is this on my top 50 of library record recordings. In fact, over half of the album is pretty corny. But...it does have a few gems on it. Especially songs like Mike Vickers "Mole Hill & Sven Libaek's "Bush Wind"(one of my favorite Sven tracks). Not trying to rag on it...but not every track is as good as the sound clips below...

Now I know that most of you already are aware of this amazing film score by Franco Micalizzi. But there are some new comers out there that do not know. What we have here is a very nice 45 released on Italy's CAM label from, well...a very strange 70's horror movie called Chi Sei ?(English = Beyond The Door). This movie was like an Exorcist meets Rosemary's baby kind of flick. It would be nice to actually preview it. October is coming up, so maybe I'll have to hunt down a copy of the VHS or DVD. Check out the youtube vid for a sneak view of the movie. For some reason, I seem to be on a 45 kick? Oh well...enjoy!

Released on Polydor/Circle of Sound, this OST has nothing but the cream of the crop lineup of library musicians. I generally miss the postman/woman b/c of my daily work schedule. But I must admit, I stalked her b/c I did not want to miss this record being delivered. I literally drove around the sunny streets of San Diego for 2 hours on the hunt for the infamous white Ford caravan with USPS decals. Right as I was about to give up...there she was!!! Walking from apartment to apartment delivering local gas and electric bills accompanied with newspaper ads. Pulling up beside her, she already knew, "Yes I have a package for you". I signed my mail slip and rushed back to the cozy confines of mi casa. Immediately from the cardboard casing to the VPI, I must admit, it felt like X-Mas. WOW, is all I can say! This library album is quite massive. What we have here are dark April Orchestra style beats as well as down tempo synthesized tracks all combined on one rare piece of wax. I know nothing about this label other than they had very limited pressings and only released 2 LP's. Songs like "the cult", with a dark Latin chant and "roll dance" with 70's (or 80"s ?) dance floor feel, and even the demented voices on "agony", ensure nothing but quality.

Well, it has been a long time. I'm sure some of my whopping 18 followers were wondering if I fell off. Well, no I did not. I have been working on a mixtape. I will get further into that in the post above this one. I know that I owe some of you a B side to an album, that I apologize for (you will have to remind me). It takes some time to rip these LP's, and well, I try to spend most of mine making music, digging for records, and hanging out with my fiance. Needless to say, I have a very special album right here for you. This is an album that I am in the process of ripping (and promise to finish) as I type. It is a mixture of Swedes, Germans, and Hungarians on the well respected Harvest label (sorry library heads). This album is by a group named Round House. The title is "Down To Earth". It is by far one of my favorite albums. If you are a fan of Placebo, then this is for you. It is impossible to find, and that is why I am providing it (as with any other rips I provide). To those who continue to follow my blog, thank you for having patience with me. After this post, I have something very special for all you library heads.....enjoy!

Wow!!! This album is all about love. A Perry & D. Sarkys bring you deep and dark climatic moments with romantic late 70's cheese-n-drums. I must admit, I am a sucker for this mood of library expression and Crea Sound is one label that can bring it! Side B is my favorite but side A has a track called Cycles that is very nice indeed. If you are into bangin' hip hop beats & drums, then Colorado Sunrise, Canadian Colours or just the whole B side is for you. Either way, this is a solid library record and rare as rocking horse dung. Enjoy... : )

Sven Libaek-Inner Space

It is pretty safe to say that Australian composer Sven Libaek has a unique sound of his own. This album (in my opinion) is some of his best work. With William Shatner doing the narration, and the sounds of Sven's orchestra playing away, it is easy to paint a mental image of the intended theme. Solar Flares on Peer Library is another great example of Sven in his prime, and without a doubt one of the most sought after soundtracks out there. Enjoy....

With track titles such as "Heroin, Horror Trip, The Morning After, & Dealers Corner", I'm sure you can imagine where it might take you. Unusual synth arrangements from all over the place with a HUGE 80's B movie personality. Although this was recorded in the 70's, trying to interpret it's sound is proving to be a bit tough. Just grab it....

Stefano Torossi - Feelings

Need I even explain what we have here? Some would consider this the most massive holy grail library record in existence. Deep flutes, horn stabs, drums, and string arrangements that you could compare to Nino Nardini/Roger Roger's Stringtronics. I'm not much for sizing it up, but will admit I don't even like taking it out of the sleeve it's so rare. What we have here is Jay Richford & Gary Steven's (aka Stefano Torossi) "Feelings" LP 1974. There are a few pressings going around of this record, so if you are a purist and want it on Conroy Library or Carosello, be ready to shed out between $500 to $1000. Or just hit my link up and get it for free. An amazing piece of work that I hope you will enjoy....Peace.
